Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to the Paper Explorer AI browser extension, the website at papers.aisaver.app, and the supporting API operated by AISaver.app (“Paper Explorer,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). Paper Explorer AI is an independent product and is not affiliated with or endorsed by arXiv.

Data we process

Account and subscription data

When you sign in, we process your email address, account identifier, authentication session, plan, subscription provider and status, billing-period dates, and feature usage totals. Payment card details are collected and processed by the active payment provider, not by Paper Explorer.

Research content

To provide AI features, we process the arXiv paper metadata and content you request, selected passages, questions, conversation messages, explanations, notes, saved-paper records, tags, collections, and export preferences. Content is sent only when you invoke the corresponding feature.

Provider settings and device data

If you configure a personal OpenAI-compatible provider, we store its base URL, model name, and encrypted API key. We also use a randomly generated extension device identifier to link an installed extension with your account. The built-in system API key is never shipped to or returned by the extension.

Technical information

Our infrastructure may process standard request information such as IP address, browser type, request time, error details, and security signals to operate, protect, troubleshoot, and prevent abuse of the service.

03

How we use data

  • Generate paper summaries, evidence-grounded answers, explanations, paraphrases, and related-paper suggestions.
  • Synchronize conversations, explanation history, notes, saved papers, tags, collections, account state, and usage limits.
  • Provide local Markdown downloads and user-requested integrations.
  • Authenticate users, manage subscriptions, prevent fraud and abuse, diagnose errors, and secure the service.
  • Comply with applicable law and enforce our service terms.

We do not sell user data, use research content for advertising, or use it to determine creditworthiness or eligibility for lending.

04

Service providers

We disclose data only as needed to operate the requested service:

  • Cloudflare hosts our Worker API, D1 database, and temporary R2 object storage.
  • AI model providers process paper content and prompts for AI features. This is either our configured provider or the OpenAI-compatible provider you configure.
  • Google provides Google sign-in.
  • Creem or Paddle may process checkout, subscriptions, and customer portal access.
  • Resend may deliver authentication or service emails when email sign-in is used.
  • arXiv provides the public paper pages and files you choose to analyze.

Providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect users, the service, or the public.

05

Storage and retention

Account, subscription, usage, conversation, explanation-history, library, and note data may be stored in our Cloudflare D1 database so it can remain available across sessions and linked devices. Personal provider API keys are encrypted at rest.

Paper PDFs are not stored by default. If temporary server-side processing is explicitly required, a PDF may be placed in R2 with a short expiration period and automatically removed. Browser-side PDF extraction is preferred when available. Markdown exports are generated by the extension and downloaded directly to your device; they are not stored in R2.

We retain account data while your account is active and as reasonably necessary for security, billing, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. Local extension data remains in Chrome until you clear it or uninstall the extension.

06

Your choices

You can use many reading features without adding a personal AI provider, remove personal provider settings, delete conversation and explanation history, edit or remove library content, sign out, clear Chrome extension storage, and uninstall the extension.

You may request access to or deletion of account-associated data by contacting us. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some records may be retained where legally required or necessary for fraud prevention and security.

07

Security and children

We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect data, including encrypted transport, server-side credential handling, and encryption of personal provider keys. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Paper Explorer is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
